Rest in peace, my granduncle.

I was told this afternoon that my granduncle passed away. I was really sad. I met him a few times throughout my life. He was a decent and generous man as well as a successful businessman who was active in Hong Kong and Taiwan. He involved in many notable charities. He was famous for starting Chuan Fu Cup for youth baseball in 1997. It has now been participated by 50 teams around Taiwan. He had spent about USD1million in past 15 years in organizing Chuan Fu Cup.

He lost his wife who had pancreas cancer five years ago. I attended the funeral and it was grand. Representatives from Hong Kong government and Ministry of Education (Taiwan) came to pay their tribute. My granduncle was in deep pain at that time because he loved his wife so much. Unfortunately, he had colon cancer after 3 years. He fought the cancer bravely and even attended the opening ceremony of Chuan Fu Cup last year. He is really a role model for everyone.

Hopefully he is now living happily with my grandaunt in heaven. Rest in peace, my granduncle, Ang Pai Ji.

A new star is born: Jess Lee Kar Wei

Jess Lee Kar Wei (李佳薇) is the first Malaysia who won the popular Taiwan singing contest, One Million Star (超級星光大道). This yet again proves how good Malaysia is in brain drain. She has participated in Astro Star Quest (Astro新秀大赛) which she failed halfway because the judges were more concerned about the looks of the participants. That's why all the winners are not famous except Nicholas Teo (张栋梁). She also competed in Malaysian Idol which she failed halfway because she forgot the lyrics. However, I believe these "failures" have shaped her to become who she is today. Although her English pronunciation is not that good, her powerful voice has covered this mistake nicely. You can't compare her to the original singers because she is just a going-to-be great singer.

Must-See Movies of 2011!

It's movie time! I have a list of movies here. They are all chosen by some credible critics. It seems that superheroes are all going to come out. Twilight, Piranha 3D (I can't believe this!), Mission Impossible, Pirates of The Caribbean, Hangover, X-Men, Transformer, Harry Potter, Paranormal Activity, Sherlock Holmes, Alvin & the Chipmunks and Cars all have a sequel this year.
